Welcome to our church!
|
|
|
Church is a place for us to pray to meet God. Our church has a shape
of a White Whale. You may feel a slight darkness when you enter into the
chapel.
This atmosphere you feel is a symbol of suffering of life. But you would
also feel the light of God through the darkness when you look at the altar
and the Cross. Every one of us would be able to find a light of hope if
you truly seek for it in the darkness of your heart. We would like to find
and share that light with you.
You will have an everlasting light in your heart as you go out of the
chapel, surrounded by the light of the sky and the mountains in Takarazuka.
A church is a living building. The White Whale wandering throughout the
vast ocean of life will accept us and will renew our spirits. This church
is your home as well as the house of God. Take time to see it.
Listen to what God tells you in silence through these simple walls, the
steeple reaching to the sky and small windows. We hope you will find what
you truly seek for in the silence.
With all our hearts, we welcome you! |

This chapel was designed by the master architect Togo Murano and built
in 1965. Cardinal Taguchi, Fr. Noguchi the first pastor of Takarazuka church
and the people of parish eagerly asked him to design it as ‘the house of
the Lord’, ‘the house of prayer’. He described the shape of the chapel
as ‘the white whale that wandered the ocean and finally found the land
of eternity.’
It is introduced in a magazine;‘Takarazuka church has a pointed steeple
which brings peoples’ wishes and prayers to heaven.’(Bungei Shunjyu, February
1985) |
